Farm animals give fair-goers a taste of Del. agriculture

Cows, goats and pigs at the Delaware State Fair all showcase the agricultural heritage of Delaware.
"It is very important to give young kids especially of farm life," said Delaware State Fair Director Bob Moore.
"They've never, most of these kids have never seen animals, they've never been on a farm," said Moore.
That's why livestock is a huge focal point at the Delaware State Fair.
According to Moore, there are experts on hand to teach how to properly take care of the animals and to explain how they play an important part in the community.
"We want them to know where their food comes from that's the main thing," said Moore.
"This gives them a chance to see how they're taken care of and grow, and they might be interested in that some time in the future," Moore said.
Farming is a big business in Delaware, and by teaching future farmers at a young age, they hope to ensure agriculture stays strong for years to come.
