Cooling centers open as high temperatures are expected

Cooling centers are open in Somerset County as extreme heat is expected on Monday.

The Somerset County Health Department says their cooling centers are open to help county residents stay cool during the temperatures in the upper 90s. The cooling centers can be found at the following locations:

 1. Princess Anne Library (11767 Beechwood Street, Princess Anne, MD)
The library is open Monday through Friday. The hours are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday. Friday's hours are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

2. Crisfield Library (100 Collins Street, Crisfield, MD)
The library is open Monday through Friday. The hours are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday. Friday's hours are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

3. Somerset Senior Services Center (MAC Center) (8928 Sign Post Road, Suite 3, Westover, MD)
The hours are 8:00 AM to  4:00 PM Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

4. Woodrow Wilson Community Center (119 S 7th Street, Crisfield, MD)
The hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Officials say residents should residents should take their own food, beverages, and medications to the cooling centers. Pets are not allowed.
