Cambridge’s Christmas in July

We may be six months away from Christmas, but that didn't stop Santa Claus from paying a visit to downtown Cambridge on Saturday.

Mrs. Claus says, "We're here to wish everyone here a Merry Christmas in July!"

The young professionals of Dorchester and the downtown Cambridge merchants teamed up to keep the reason for the season alive by donating toys and school supplies to children in need.

Stores up and down Race street had toy boxes and special discounts set up for customers bringing in donations.

"People do these donations to help out the needy."

Shoppers in downtown Cambridge are donating all kinds of toys and school supplies for the cause.

On top of the discounts and donations, the festive event featured all kinds of family fun!

Santa shared some loot from his sleigh with lucky watermelon eating contest winners. Mrs. Claus says these donations will help good boys and girls when they head back to school in the fall.

"People are donating school supplies so kids will have an extra good year in school this year."

Downtown shops say all this the fa-la-la-la fun brings in big business and helps keep the spirit of giving alive all year long.
