UPDATE: Early morning Harbeson crash fatal

A Delaware man has died as a result of an early morning car crash on Harbeson Road.

Officials say that a 2013 Ford F-150 was traveling north on Harbeson Road and a 2002 Ford Ranger was traveling south on Harbeson Road at the same time. For unknown reasons. Delaware State Police say the 18-year-old driver of the F-150, failed to stay in his lane and entered the southbound lane, directly in front of the other truck.

The operator of the Ranger, a 53-year-old Seaford man, was unable to avoid the F-150, causing a near head on collision of the two trucks.

Troopers say the 18-year-old Milton man was not wearing his seatbelt and he was taken to the Beebe Medical Center by ambulance in serious condition. law enforcement reports that 53-year-old driver was properly restrained, but extensively trapped in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Harbeson Road, between Rust Road and Martins Farm Road was closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. Harbeson road is now open.

The DSPCollision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash. The reason for the lane departure is still unknown and no charges have been filed at this time.

9:02 AM – A serious crash in Harbeson involving two vehicles has closed a section of Harbeson Road this morning.

Delaware State Police are currently on the scene investigating the serious crash that happened around 6:43 AM, on Harbeson Road near Rust Road. Officials say that Harbeson Road, between Rust Road and Martins Farm Road, is closed at this time.

Motorist should expect extended delays in this area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.
