Police investigate fatal tractor trailer accident in Pocomoke

Maryland State Police are currently investigating a fatal accident involving a tractor trailer along Route 13 and Peach Orchard Road in Pocomoke.

Police say that around 3:52 PM a box truck that was traveling northbound on Route 13 when the driver, for unknown reasons, drifted off the roadway and hit a tree leading to the truck being fully engulfed in flames. 

Route 13 Northbound was completely shutdown as crews attempted to remove the truck from the median.

Authorities say there were no visible signs that the driver tried to swerve or use the brakes. We're told the body will be sent to the chief medical examiners office for identification.
