Maui Jack’s: More than just Chincoteague’s first waterpark

Residents in Accomack County now have the opportunity to splash around at Maui Jack's Waterpark. It's their very first waterpark and it's been two years in the making.
They have speed slides for those who are adventurous and body slides for families. Beyond that, they have a lazy river, a tiki bar, and cabanas.
Construction started in November and they had the majority of it done, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
But besides offering some fun, they're also contributing to the economy in Accomack County.
The general manager, Connie Davis says, they've been hiring locals, "We have about 25 lifeguards and pool attendants that we've hired from the local community on the Eastern Shore. Some from Pocomoke, some from Chincoteague, some Onley area."
And the park architect, Michael O'Neill tells 47 ABC, "I think it's an economic boost for not only Chincoteague and Accomack. In the construction phase, we used mainly local constructors, so we've been helping the economy in this area since the day it started."
On site, they have complimentary sunscreen throughout the park because they say they're adamant about safety all across the board.
But Maui Jack's plans aren't stopping there. They tell 47 ABC they want to grow even more and build another tower with slides.
