On Sunday morning, Salisbury firefighters, with the help of the Salisbury Police Department, rescued a person from a car partially submerged in the Wicomico River.

The Salisbury Fire Department was alerted about the incident around 11:30 AM.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found what they described as a "combative" person inside.

According to the Fire Department, divers were able to quickly attach a winch cable from a fire truck to keep the car close to shore and from sinking any further.

They say it took about 15 minutes to rescue the combative person from the car with assistance from the Salisbury Police Department.

The person was then transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

The cause of the accident has not been released.
