Fight to end Alzheimer’s on The Longest Day

Traditionally during the longest day of the year, we get more sunlight.
Since it's the longest day of the year, The Alzheimer's Association is using today to raise awareness that for those dealing with Alzheimer's, since every day can feel like the longest day because of the struggles they face.
The Longest Day is one the biggest fundraising days for The Alzheimer's Association and is a way for them to raise money for programs, research, and education.
The Association says if you are dealing with a loved one who has this disease, the first step of action is to get involved with a support group.
Carol Zimmerman from the Eastern Shore's Alzheimer's Association says, "One of the things you'll learn there are ways on how to communicate with somebody who is constantly repeating themselves and how to deal with that. How to redirect behavior that becomes either angry or frustrated. All of those things become huge challenges in a day of taking care of a patient of Alzheimer's.
If you need assistance, they offer a 24 hour helpline at 1-800-272-3900.
