Excessive flooding in OC didn’t put a complete damper on local businesses

In the last 72 hours, Delmarva has had some bad luck with the weather.

The rain was so intense in Ocean City this weekend that people were seen kayaking down the streets.

47 ABC traveled to the coastal town to see if the weather put a damper on local businesses. One would think the weather would be a complete wash out for businesses. But with beach goers running for cover, visitors came trickling in.

The general manager from Thrasher's French Fries told us, "They closed the beach so that brought the people up here waiting for it to blow over. We were open all day we were almost open to midnight, the people not as normal as we would expect but it was still a very good day."

We made our way over to Ripley's Believe It or Not. Their general manager said the initial business was good when it start raining but since it lasted so long, people were blocking the entrance and exit by standing underneath the awnings.

For some, the rain didn't pour in big bucks, but that doesn't mean they didn't turn a profit.

Dolle's owner tells 47 ABC, "I don't know if it really helped business because it is really scare. We rather people be safe then have to worry if they are getting popcorn. They came back though which was nice, so we made up yesterday for the lost time we had Saturday."

Businesses in Ocean City, who rely on the influx of vacationers, just hope the perfect weather day is still in store this summer.
