Del. fire causes over $70K in damages; investigation ongoing

A fire remains under investigation after authorities say the intentional incident resulted in over $70,000 in damages, in Selbyville.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal says on Monday, just before 7:20 AM, a fire happened at a residence in the 27000 block of Shipwreck Drive. Officials say fire was showing from the attached garage of the single-family dwelling, when the Roxanna Volunteer Fire Company and Frankford Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene. The fire was put under control around 8:30 AM.

According to the report, one occupant was taken to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin for evaluation. Officials say no injuries were reported. 

Authorities report that their investigation reveals this incident to be a set fire. Deputies are still in the early stages of this investigation.

Fire officials say this incident resulted in $75,000 in estimated damages.
