Worcester County Humane Society opens thrift store to benefit ‘no kill’ shelter

The Worcester County Humane Society has started a new project that will help the homeless cats and dogs in the area. They recently opened a thrift store that will use all of its proceeds to directly support their no kill shelter. Right now they're looking for donations of gently used, in season, women's and men's clothing, home goods as well as numerous pet items and furniture. Officials add the humane society depends heavily on donations from the community to care for the many cats and dogs who call the shelter home until their forever families are found.
"When I retired I decided I was going to give back to my favorite shelter in what ever best way came along and this is what came along. I've done fundraising for the shelter very successfully and I thought this was just another way to raise funds for our shelter," said thrift store manager Mary Martinez.
Martinez says she's still currently looking for more volunteers to help out at the thrift store. For now the store is open Wednesdays through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturdays from 10AM to 2PM.
