Worcester Co. Health Dept. set to offer rabies clinics for pets

On Tuesday, health officials announced dates for upcoming rabies clinics after they say several cases were confirmed in Worcester County.
The Worcester County Health Department reports that they confirmed six rabies cases locally since the beginning of 2018. Officials say this highlights the importance of rabies awareness and proper pet vaccination.
According to health officials, rabies vaccination clinics are available at the following Worcester County locations:
• Bishopville Fire Department
Main Fire House at 10709 Bishopville Road, Bishopville, MD
Wednesday, May 16 from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
• Worcester County Animal Control
Timmons Rd. (off US RT 113), Snow Hill, MD
Thursday, May 17 from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Officials say the vaccinations are $5 for Worcester County residents with proof of residency and $10 for non-county residents. If this is not your pet's first rabies vaccination, the previous vaccination certificate must be provided in order to receive a 3-year shot; otherwise, a 1-year shot will be given.
Health officials say while at the clinic, all dogs must be leashed and under the control of an adult while all cats and ferrets must be in a carrier or box with air holes.
