A woman is facing charges after police say she was arrested on DUI and shoplifting charges at a Delaware shopping center.

The Milford Police Department says on May 7, around 9:30 PM, officers were dispatched to a shoplifting investigation at Dollar General, on N DuPont  Boulevard, in Milford. Officers say it was reported that a female suspect had shoplifted from the store and fled the scene in a white Ford Focus. Once on scene, police say the vehicle was found driving in the shopping center parking lot. Police reportedly encountered the driver after the vehicle was parked in a parking space.

According to the report, 26-year-old Brittney O'Neal was identified as the driver and law enforcement noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the woman. Milford PD says they noticed other signs of impairment while speaking with the 26-year-old. Police apparently conducted standardized field sobriety tests.

Authorities report that the test revealed that O'Neal was under the influence of alcohol.

O'Neal was arrested and charged with shoplifting under $1,500 and driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Police report that the Milford woman was committed to the custody of the Department of Corrections until she was sober to have a presentment in front of the court. She was later released on $350 unsecured bail with a future court date in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.
