Talbot Co. fire causes $500K in damages; investigation ongoing

A fire remains under investigation after officials say a Talbot County home was destroyed over the weekend.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal says on Saturday, just after 12:30 AM, St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 6000 block of Hopkins Neck Road. Once on scene, officials noticed that there were "only a few walls left standing." The two-story home was completely destroyed as a result of the blaze. 

According to the report, 40 firefighters controlled the fire in two hours. Officials report that the fire caused $500,000 in estimated total damages.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this time. This incident remains under investigation by the Office of the Maryland Fire Marshal.
