Summer grilling tips ahead of Memorial Weekend

Chances are good that people during Memorial Day Weekend will be firing up their grills.

According to barbeque service owners, it is important to avoid using a grill near a house in case for flare ups.

A second tip is to be familiar with what kind of equipment is being used so that there are not any incidents.

Finally, it is important to control the grill fire by maintaining the right temperatures and not put raw food on the grill too early.

"You really want to try to use your equipment before you have that big event and have people over," said Smokin' BBQ Grille Owner Nick Schlegel.

"You don’t want to have a fire then, and you want to have the best barbeque and relax and have fun," said Schlegal.

According to Schlegal, it is important to cook chicken at a temperature of 165 degrees so that bacteria does not build up.
