Springfest reels in thousands of people creating an economic boost for OC

This year marks the 28th Annual Springfest in Ocean City and there is no doubt that Springfest is the official start of the busy season.

They have live music, arts and crafts, and tons of food vendors.

Big headliners are also performing this weekend, such as Brett Michaels and Trace Adkins.

Ocean City's Chamber of Commerce says they are expecting over 150,000 people and that's not even including locals.

Those numbers themselves show the economic impact Springfest has on local businesses.

The manager of Zinnia Jewelry, Hugh Lovell says, "If we didn't have anything going this weekend, we'd probably, our business would be down 30%. It's definitely helping 30% or more."

And Andrew Dolle from Dolle's Candyland tells us, "To have it right in the inlet, it brings everyone downtown to Ocean City. We're able to showcase the boardwalk, we can showcase the local business and it's just wonderful for the local economy."

Springfest is a four day festival and we're told when events start on a Thursday, they see the biggest economic boost. Many people tend to stay in hotels, go out to eat at local restaurants and explore the boardwalk.
