Salisbury Marathon: A success

Salisbury is celebrating the news of a successful first-ever SBY Marathon that took place on Saturday, April 28. 

According to officials, nearly 1,000 people completed the different races.

Officials also say that local businesses had an outstanding increase of sales on race day; however, they are still rounding up how much of an economic impact was made. 

"We know that many of the businesses had record days," said the Race Director, Jason Chance. 

"We had spoken with a couple of the restaurants like Evolution Craft Brewing Company that had over 25 percent of an increase on race day, and we know we booked a lot of hotels," said Chance.

Officials will be announcing the date of the 2019 SBY Marathon in the next few weeks. They also hope to lessen traffic jams next year.
