Police: Del. woman arrested after stealing over $100K from local hospital

A woman was arrested after police say she embezzled $150,000 from a Delaware hospital.

The Lewes Police Department says on April 23, they were notified by Beebe Healthcare of a potential internal embezzlement by one of their employees. Police determined through investigative measures aided by an internal forensic audit that Hope Abram of Lewes, an employee, embezzled approximately $150,000 through various means.

According to the report, on May 3, police executed a search warrant at Abram's Bay Breeze Drive home where she was taken into custody.

Abram is charged with theft over $50,000 (Class D Felony),  forgery 2nd degree (a Class G Felony), and falsifying business records (Class A Misdemeanor).

She was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute and bail was set at $13,000.

This is incident remains under investigation. Authorities report that there is strong potential for additional charges.
