Ocean City looks at solar lighting for bus stops

In Ocean City, officials are looking at improving their bus transportation.

The town is looking at providing better lighting at many of their bus stops, but not just regular lamp posts, solar ones.

They tell us many of their stops aren’t well lit and by adding more light, they hope to not just deter crime from happening but help reduce their carbon footprint too.

Jessica Waters, Ocean City spokesperson says, “Not only would this be a great safety tool, an extra safety initiative but I think this would be a great environmental initiative. It’s something we are always looking into ways to improve how we are using energy.”

Officials say they are trying to implement more eco-friendly tools throughout the town, tools like the new solar powered parking meters.

But the next step for this solar light project is evaluating the over 100 bus stop locations in the town to see which ones need better lighting.
