New capital campaign to raise $2.5 million to revamp Milton Theatre

For over 100 years, the Milton Theatre has been a staple for the town. It's been through two fires, two Nor'easters, so it's taken quite a beating over time.
They've had different venues and owners and they even closed at one point. Four years ago, they opened their doors and now they need your help to renovate it.
Their brand new $2.5 million capital campaign, called the "Milton Theatre Renaissance Initiative" is taking the venue to the next level. They want to add a new balcony, which would take their seating capacity from 200 to almost 500.
They are also adding a new state-of-art digital marquee, bar, and box office.
Beyond that, the theatre's nonprofit called Calliope hopes to buy the property from the private owners.
Their Fred Munzert says, "The non-profit actually owning the property was a big component and the private owners have said it all along, we want this in good hands, we don't know theatre, we don't want to run a theatre but we want it hands that will take it to the next generation."
Since reopening, they kicked off with 75 shows. Now, they showcase over 300.
It's been an economic boost not just for the theatre but for the town itself, which is music to their ears.
Business owner Lisa Falzarano says, "It's bringing a lot of people in, more cultural things going on now in Milton and we love it."
"I think it's a good opportunity for Milton to redevelop, to put some money into the theatre maybe bring some folks that wouldn't typically come to Milton," resident Rob Nicholson says.
On July 7, they plan to have an event to showcase their renderings and renovation plans, along with a live performance.
