A man was arrested after police say he was in possession of a stolen weapon and fled the scene of a Delaware traffic stop.

The Laurel Police Department says on Friday, an officer was patrolling in the area of North Poplar Street and Maryland Avenue when they noticed a vehicle traveling in excess of the posted limits. While attempting to place Winder into handcuffs, Laurel PD says he continued to resist officer's arrest and he was tased to gain compliance.

Winder was taken into custody and taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. Police report that the gun that was in Winder's possession was discovered to be stolen.

The 20-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm by person prohibited, possession of ammunition by person prohibited, receiving a stolen firearm, resisting arrest and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

He was then turned over to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
