Industrial accident along route 50 sends one to shock trauma

In Mardela Springs, Maryland State Police from the Salisbury Barrack responded to an industrial accident with an injury along eastbound route 50 and Old Bradley Road.

Police say the incident happened around 2:15 PM Wednesday afternoon.

A Maryland State Highway Administration contractor was cutting trees in the area. The employees were using a bucket truck that had an extended boom. While the bucket was extended in the air to cut the trees, the vehicle overturned.

An employee in the bucket portion was identified as Johny Arnoldo Picon Velasquez of Lexington Park, Maryland.

He was transported to Shock Trauma with life threatening injuries. 

The incident was off of the roadway that caused no delays in traffic or closures.
