Hospital celebrates anniversary, relationship with community

Over those years McCready Health has witnessed countless births, surgeries, and even some miracles, telling the story of Somerset County. On Sunday, the hospital celebrated 95 years since the facility opened its doors.
"In that 95 years we've been here the whole time. Through thick and through thin. Through hurricanes, through floods, through snowstorms, everything," said Sue King, community relations and development coordinator.
There through sickness and health, but also helping off campus, supporting Health Somerset, cancer walks, and other initiatives.
McCready officials busted out a book containing the earliest records from the hospital, where some residents thumbed through to find records from their birth, hospital stays, or records of family and friends.
How many lives that we've touched in this community. And people remember when we put it out on Facebook, the I was born here. The amount of stories that came in, I was born here, my sister was born here my mother was born here, my father was born here," said King. "The stories is what tells us of the community."
The hope is this small hospital will continue to serve the residents of Somerset County, as it hopes to develop a partnership with PRMC to provide improved service in the years to come.
McCready Health is already on the track to improving services, as it has been under construction in the recent months, working to expand its behavioral health facility and we're told that work is ahead of schedule.
The new facility will answer the growing demand for its services for mental health and addictions.
Officials say the behavioral health facility will more than double the current capacity, as well as double the square footage of the the hospital's existing space.
When completed, it will include more group meeting rooms, a total of six counseling rooms, a private waiting and intake area and offices for staff, filling a need for Somerset County residents.
We are told the behavioral health facility is expected to open in mid-June.
