Gravel Hill Road will be closed during Memorial Day weekend for repairs

State Road-30, otherwise known as Gravel Hill Road in Sussex County, may give you some trouble this Memorial Day weekend and that's because there's a hole in the road.
We're told the hole was caused because a joint separated in the metal pipe crossing.
So if you were planning on using Gravel Hill Road as an alternate route to the beach this weekend, DelDOT suggests using some other routes.
Jason McCluskey, a DelDOT Maintenance Engineer said, "If you use it as an alternate route you'll have to U-turn and go to the normal route so."
"Probably the best way around is to follow detour signs but in general Sand Hill Road to the West of the closure or Route 5 to the East of the closure will be your best routes North and South around there," he added.
We're told Gravel Hill Road will be closed until June 7th, weather permitting.
DelDOT had been planning on replacing all of these pipes and they've prioritized a lot of the work, but because of all the rain, the pipes at gravel hill road just couldn't make it.
