Good weather means good business for Ocean City Memorial Day weekend

One by one people from all over are filling the Ocean City boardwalk. A boardwalk that will be packing in nearly 250,000 people.

That’s because It’s the town’s busiest time of the year, Memorial Day weekend.

Daniel McIntyre from Caruso’s Pizza, located right on the boardwalk, says, “This is the first really big weekend of the summer. “

Czarah Domingo from Atlantic Hotel says, “As soon as Memorial Day weekend comes and from there on for the rest of the summer, we start to get really busy.”

From hotels to eateries even boardwalk staples, there isn’t one place in Ocean City that won’t be crawling with tourists.

Every year local businesses wait until Memorial Day weekend gets here because that means they’re open for business and lots of it.

McIntyre says, “The summer is where we make all the money for the year so it’s really important that we keep busy in here for that reason.”

But this kick off to the summer season isn’t a guarantee for good business because it’s all weather permitting.

Domingo explains, “They see the weathers going to be bad one weekend and we will get cancellations here and there, but if the weather’s going great, our weekends go great too.”

And at Thrashers, a stable of the boardwalk says, “If we have good weather we will probably have a line all the way down the boardwalk.”

The good news is Mother Nature seems to be on the businesses’ side so far, hopefully it will stay that way.
