DNREC begins annual cleaning for downstate ponds

With inland water temperatures rising and aquatic plants emerging, DNREC's Divison of Fish and Wildlife has begun their annual treatment of public ponds across The First State.
Officials say they're checking these ponds for nuisance aquatic weeds.
If left unchecked these weeds can choke the water crowding out beneficial plant species, and can prevent boating and fishing access.
Ponds being treated this year are Abbots Pond near Milford, Concord Pond near Seaford, and Horsey Pond in Laurel.
DNREC says signs will be posted in the boat ramp area of each pond on the day of treatment
