Del. organization raises awareness about salary disparities amongst parole and probation officers

Tuesday afternoon, a rally to raise awareness about salary disparities amongst Delaware probation and parole officers took place.

Members of the Delaware Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 10 gathered in front of Legislative Hall. Organizers say probation and parole officers are required to have a Bachelor's degree for the position and have a starting salary of a little over $36,000. A number that they believe is not enough for the education needed for the job and their day to day responsibilities.

"We're in the helping profession and all we want is to be fairly compensated," says Todd Mumford, the President of the Delaware FOP Lodge 10.

Organizers hope to continue bringing this issues to legislatures, in an effort to include money in the state budget for salary raises.
