City launches new kayak ramp

A big announcement was made at the Salisbury Marina Thursday afternoon, the official launch of the new kayak launch ramp.

The city says this new ramp will provide new opportunities for leisure along the Wicomico River.

The ramp is two years in the making, and was installed by the city's operations crew.  This is one of many initiatives the city is undertaking along the river including new housing.

"When we undertook a few years ago the branding process for the City of Salisbury, we asked our citizens what is Salisbury to you," said Salisbury Mayor Jake Day.  "And time and time again participants mentioned that they felt like we are a river town, they mentioned the Wicomico River."

As of right now it is a BYOK area, or bring your own kayak.  Eventually there will be a spot where folks will be able to store their kayaks.
