Bypass reopens just in time for Memorial Day

There is good news for locals traveling around Salisbury just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.
All routes on the Salisbury bypass north of Route 50 were re-opened Thursday, just in time for that beach traffic.
This is all part of a two year project to repair eleven bridges total throughout the bypass.
The bridges are about 40 years old, but this work has extended their service lives by three to four decades.
We're told that there are still minor projects north of 50 to be completed by the end of June.
"We're not done-done, we're going to have some shorter lane closures, they're not going to be out there very long for the paving and the median work," said Maryland State Highway Association spokesperson Bob Rager. "But again the promise that we made was that for the lanes north of Route 50 on the bypass, we were going to have those opened up by this Memorial Day weekend so we could accommodate the extra beach traffic and not clog everybody up around here."
Expect some lane closures to continue throughout the end of June as there is still paving and median work to finish on the north side of 50 — we are told the south side of 50 is totally finished.
And if you are traveling and you see the orange cones — make sure to slow down and keep an eye out for any workers who may be close to or in your path.
