Brandywine Valley SPCA gets $200k grant towards new facility

The Brandywine Valley SPCA says it received a $200,000 grant to help buy a new facility. The animal shelter is looking to purchase a former Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary facility, in Georgetown, that will go to auction on June 9th.
Tuesday, the BVSPCA announced that they got the grant from the Longwood Foundation, a group that accepts grant requests from non-profit organizations in Delaware.
Brandywine says they plan to use the new building to save more than 2,000 at-risk animals every year including cruelty survivors, disaster victims, newborns/infants, animals at risk in other shelters, and those who need more training in order to find a home.
If they win the auction, they'll then be looking to raise an additional $250,000 for repairs and another $250,000 to get equipment up and running.
