App available to monitor state beaches

For many Memorial Day weekend is the perfect time to get that first beach trip in of the season, and Maryland Department of the Environment is helping beach goers with its own app.
The Maryland Healthy Beaches App monitors water quality at nearly 200 state beaches.
The department works with local health departments who sample the water. You can check to see if beaches are clean and open, if there is an advisory, or if they are closed.
It also provides daily updates on rainfall causing runoff that could effect water quality.
The app is available for download via the App Store and Google Play.
