Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Law Enforcement Officers

Worcester County Sheriff's Office is in need of more police officers. Law enforcement officials say they're seeking additional funds to hire more officers for the upcoming fiscal year. They say they'll soon be having at least five officers retiring over the next couple of years. And since Governor Larry Hogan signed the School Safety Bill, the Worcester County Sheriff's Office is looking to hire three new officers as well as another part time officer to help with coverage in local schools.

"We're like many agencies, who are kind of struggling to get qualified candidates to apply for law enforcement positions and we're looking to fill slots that have some vacancies due to retirement, and people moving on to other agencies. We also have to fill slots for schools," said Worcester County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Ed Schrier.

If you're interested in applying for a law enforcement position you can stop by the Sheriff's office and ask for an application, or you can head to their website to download one.
