UPDATE: Wicomico Co. man sentenced for role in 2017 barricade situation

A man will spend over the next two decades in prison after he shot at Wicomico County authorities during a 2017 barricade situation.
The Office of the State's Attorney for Wicomico County says on Thursday, 26-year-old Alex Bartell, of Willards, was sentenced to 25 years of active incarceration. The 26-year-old was sentenced to 25 years for each of the five counts of first degree assault to be served concurrently and 20 years for the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence to be served concurrently.
The charges stem from a 2017 barricade incident for which he was convicted on January 31, 2018.
In March 2017, at a Willards residence, Bartell was involved in a barricade situation where he locked himself in a bedroom and shot multiple times at Wicomico County Sheriff's Department deputies. The incident lasted throughout the night and during that time, Bartell pointed a gun at several members of law enforcement.
