Six teams from Indian River School District head to robotics world competition

For the first time ever the Indian River School District is sending six teams to compete in the Vex Robotics World Competition next week in Kentucky.

Students are tasked with designing and building a robot in a game-based engineering challenge.

One of the schools going is Lord Baltimore Elementary in Ocean View, who qualified in their very first year of their robotics program.

47 ABC spoke to team members and their assistant principal Travis Bower, who says they are excited, "So they’re going to be facing teams from everywhere. China, all throughout Europe and it’ll be interesting to see the different ideas and how our teams collaborate"

Teams from Long Neck Elementary, Selbyville Middle, Georgetown Elementary, Georgetown Middle and Indian River High School also made the cut.
