Significant damage caused to Berlin retail shop

An early morning fire in Berlin forced first responders to close part of Main Street for over an hour.

It happened at the Attics of My Life Retail Store.  We're told there were no injuries because no one was there when the fire was first reported around 8:45 AM.

It took about 30 to 40 minutes to put out the blaze, and we're told it caused significant damage inside.

"Probably within the next couple of week I would say, at least," said Berlin FD Chief Jimmy Corron.  "Due to the smoke and also the fire damage inside, there's quite a bit of other items that are destroyed.  So as of right now probably within the next couple of weeks it should be opened back up."

Investigators are still working to learn the cause.
