Shore Transit to Provide Alternate Routes During Route 50 Bridge Closing

The Maryland Department of Transportation will be closing the Route 50 Bridge into Ocean City for five nights starting Friday night, and now they're offering alternative routes for travelers on public transportation.

In order to help customers who use the two night time trips to get to work or return home, shore transit will modify their last two trips. It will now go to the Ocean Pines Plaza Bus Stop which is normally not served on the late route. Officials add that the bridge should be reopened in time at 6 AM to not impact morning trips.

"It's so that we don't end up stranding people in Ocean City that come from other parts of the lower shore to work there  and get off of their shift at 9:45 or 10 o'clock and can't get home. We've modified our routes to ensure that our customers get the best service possible even with something major like the bridge being closed," said Transit Director Brad Bellacicco.

Transit officials say that if you have any questions about the new routes you can contact them directly at 443-260-2300.
