Officials: Garage roof collapses as a result of Del. fire; investigation ongoing

A fire remains under investigation, after officials say the roof collapsed and three firefighters sustained injuries while responding to the Dover blaze.
The Dover Fire Department says on Sunday, just after 7:00 PM, a fire happened at a two-story home on Meadow Ridge Parkway, in Dover. Officials say due to the incident being in a rural section of the district, well outside City limits, and not protected by hydrants, a tanker company assist was started from Hartly (51) and Marydel (56), along with Camden (41).

According to the report, there was a fire from the roof to the garage and units were on scene for approximately three minutes, when the garage roof collapsed on the crews below. A firefighter, who was covered by debris, was apparently removed from the scene. First responders say the blaze was contained to the garage with no extension into the residence.
The scene was apparently placed under control and crews remained on scene for an additional hour performing overhaul and checking hot spots.
Authorities say two firefighters were treated and released for minor injuries. A third was treated and released for duty while on scene.
This fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.
