Ocean Pines Board of Directors approves new management for Yacht Club

The Ocean Pines Board of Directors is taking steps to better manage their yacht club.

The Yacht Club has been one of the main contributors to Ocean Pines' significant financial losses over the years.

The Ocean Pines Board of Directors voted unanimously on Thursday to approve a management agreement with Matt Ort Companies, a restaurant development and management company that brings 25 years of experience.

The company will now be managing, controlling, and operating both the yacht and beach clubs, including all food and beverage operations, janitorial services, special functions, and more.

Officials are hoping the new, outside management will increase accountability and help better track the club's finances.

Denise Sawyer, the Director of Marketing for Ocean Pines said, "I think the objective with this plan was to employ those who are well experienced who have the know how and who will be held accountable to get the liability away from the association and really track the money as it goes in and out of our facilities."

Matt Ortt Companies was granted a two year contract

Ocean Pines officials say that contract can be terminated for economic performance without penalty.
