Ocean City Wind Turbine Petition Gets Support from Mayor, City Council

The battle against the highly debated offshore wind project's location continues. Earlier this week, 47 ABC reported that Deborah Rayner, an Ocean City resident, created two petitions to have the wind farms pushed back 26 miles off the coast. On Monday night Rayner presented her petitions at the towns city council meeting to address concerns over the wind turbines projected location. And she had the full support of ocean city's Mayor Rick Meehan and city council who say the project has finally awoken a "sleeping giant".

"We're encouraging people to please look at this please get involved please understand the visual impact this will have on the view-shed off of ocean city and I want to thank Mrs. Rayner for taking that effort and for doing a really good job with what she presented to the council the other night," said Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan.

Currently with a couple hundred signatures, the petitions need 100,000 to get to the White House, and onto President Donald Trump's agenda. They have until May 11th to make that happen.
