Lewes Board of Public Works takes steps to ensure water quality

The City of Lewes is being proactive and taking a page out of the playbook of another Delaware town.
City officials say they're learning more about water quality and how to avoid problems by studying what happened in Blades.
Just recently, The Lewes Board of Public Works voted to expand their water-quality tests beyond the basic requirements established by both the state and federal governments.
In the past, Lewes did not test it's waters for pre-flourinated compounds, also known as PFC's, but that's about to change.
We're told PFC's are not typically found in Lewes' water, but the city would rather be safe, than sorry.
Darrian Gordon, the General Manager at Lewes Board of Public Works said, "We are absolutely committed to providing to our customers the absolute best water possible. We have a fantastic water source, our aquifer, and we want to do everything we can to protect that."
We're told the Lewes Board of Public Works will immediately take action to make their water clean if PFC's are ever detected.
