Law enforcement agencies across Delmarva participate in Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Cities across Delmarva are participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

According to a 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, the majority of abused prescription drugs were taken from family and friends, often from a medicine cabinet.

This is why law enforcement agencies across county lines are acting as a drop off location.

You shouldn't deposit any needles or liquid items; any other pills or patches are accepted.

47 ABC spoke to the Salisbury Police Department, who says they are trying to stop the opioid epidemic any way that they can.

Just like the other departments, Salisbury Police will accept drop offs from 10-2. Police say throwing them away can lead to drug abuse or even unintentional poisoning.
