Dover firefighter working on project to photograph 1,000 Delaware heroes

A new project has popped up in the past three weeks in the first state and it's already getting some attention.

Some say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case it's worth a thousand heroes. It's all apart of a new effort called 'The Faces of 1,000 Delaware Heroes'.

The man behind the lens, Jon Lloyd Jr. says, "It's about bringing awareness to fire responders whether it be firefighters, police, military, nurses, medics, it's got a wide variety of who it's open to. And it's about bringing recognition to local people who go out of their way help others and help the community."

With every click, he captures a new face.

A local firefighter and participant Cliff Neidig says, "Well I don't know about being a hero, I just do my job. When I started I was 16, it got in my blood and I've been doing it for 48 years and I wouldn't want to do anything else."

Lloyd is also a firefighter himself and he was contacted by a local organization to do the project since he's an active photographer shooting first responders. They can not disclose which organization is behind it just yet.

But soon enough, the photos will be displayed in a museum, but they need more faces. Currently, they have around 220 photos.

"I'm willing to come out to their location whether it be a firehouse, a police station, a medic station and anywhere I'll come out. I'll do your photo. It's completely free. It's just one photo a black and white photo," Lloyd tells us.

Lloyd wants to grab four to five heroes at a time and will go anywhere in the state. We're told there is no age limit and it should take about 15 minutes.

With every snapshot, it's highlighting a man or woman who does their every day job and yet makes a difference in your life.
