Delaware State Police encourages parents and teachers to be proactive in preventing school threats

Delaware State Police officials are encouraging parents and teachers to be vigilant.

Investigators say there have been a number of credible threats this year in all three counties.

Police say that the role parents play is critical because it is on them to watch their children and monitor their online activities to be ready to spot any unusual behavior.

Police say any student who makes a threat will be identified and interviewed, and can face very serious charges.

Sgt. Richard Bratz, the Public Information Officer for Delaware State Police said, "When you make a school threat or any type of threat towards another person there's some serious consequences some severe consequences that you could be facing based on the investigation."

Delaware State Police say several Delaware teens are already facing these severe charges after threatening their schools.

Police want to remind teens that if they are ever convicted of a crime, the conviction will follow them and will have to be reported on any job or college application moving forward.
