DACA Update: Local experts give feedback on the possibility of new applicants being accepted

The latest update on DACA, it's a decision that can affect not only our nation but folks right here on Delmarva.
On Tuesday, Judge John Bates of Federal District Court came forward with a brand new ruling.
It would potentially allow new applications to come in. Before anything is set in stone, the Department of Homeland Security will have 90 days for a repeal process to explain its reasoning for removing DACA.
But if they can't bring anything to the table, the Department must accept and process new applications. If everything falls into place in that 90 day span, recipients need to have certain qualifications.
Steven Planzer, an immigration lawyer tells us, "You need to have a GED, or a high school diploma or enrolled in a high school or GED program and you show that you present prior to 16 years of age and no criminal record."
More than anything, the 700,000 dreamers waiting for a result just want a final decision.
The Director of the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center, Matthew Peters says, "Everyone's kind of looking at this from the perimeter, even the judicial system and we're all just wondering why and hoping that you just get a law written and that's that."
