The Downtown Berlin Farmers Market has closed after more than 30 years in business.

However, the town is already planning to open a new farmers market by the summer.

Officials say local residents look forward to having more children's activities and entertainment, as well as locally grown produce.

The town's Economic and Community Development Director, Ivy Wells, said she is working on having the new Berlin Farmers Market open by June.

"I have experience in farmers markets, and I started a successful one many years ago," said Wells.

"So, I've been waiting for this opportunity, and I have it all planned out in my head and the community is backing me one hundred percent," she said.
