UPDATE: Convicted rapist sentenced in decades old Accomack Co. rape case

A rapist was sentenced to time in prison for his role in the rape of a teenage girl over 30 years ago, in Accomack County.

On Friday, in Virginia Beach, the Accomack County Commonwealth Attorney's Office says Khalil Muslimani was sentenced to life in prison on the charge of rape and five years in prison on the charge of indecent liberties with a child under 14.

The charges stem from the 1986 rape of a 13-year-old girl in Accomack County. 

Muslimani was convicted on charges of rape and indecent liberties with a child under 14 back in December 2017.

Authorities say Muslimani's sentences are the statutory maximums for the crimes.
