Snow Hill downs the Crabbers in a nail biter to move on to the regional finals
In an old fashion Bayside South rivalry game, the Snow Hill was able to beat Crisfield off of two clutch free throws by Ameer Fisher with 18 seconds left to go up 55-53 and going on to win 59-53. The Eagles will travel to Bel-air Maryland to take on Patterson Mill on Friday in the Regional round of the MPSSAA playoffs.
It started out like any Bayside South matchup, a line at the door that stretched all the way to the parking lot. To start the game, Crisfield would pull out to a 6-0 lead behind four from Justin Cohen. But to end the first quarter Snow Hill would be up 12-11. The Eagles would extend that lead to 30-26 to end the first half. Drew Hausien led all scorers with 11 at the half, Ryan Waters led the for Crisfield with 7.
The second half would be a back and forth 2 point game all half until 41 seconds left when Justin Cohen would hit a short jumper to tie it at 53. With just 18 seconds left Snow Hills Ameer Fisher would get fouled and hit both free throws to go up 2. With one last chance to win the game, the Crabbers drove down the court with 6 seconds left and Rykel Waters shot fell just short.
While trying to run the clock down, Jay Ayers would get fouled hard under the basket and causing a scuffle and near brawl with one second left in the game causing a 8 minute stoppage of play resulting in four free throws for Ayers and he drained all four. The Eagles went on to win 59-53 and will move on to the Regional round of the playoffs against Patterson Mill.
