Parent-led meeting looking for solutions on combating bullying/fighting in Wico. Co. schools

Videos are going viral, bullying and fighting seem to be on the rise, and tonight it all came to a head as parents confronted leaders of the Wicomico County school system.
It's the bullying and fighting that prompted this first parent-led meeting. It's a meeting that was all about fighting back.
One concerned parent, Patty Pepper says, "I think you have to start somewhere. The board is here, guidance counselors, parents, and of course the Sheriff and his team is here. It shows that a lot of the community cares. We all want to talk about this and see what we can do."
During this meeting, voices were hoping to be heard about the problems at hand: the difficult struggles children are facing.
But this is the first step to finding solutions.
One mother of two, Natalie Matthews tells us, "I think it actually went really well, it was really good for parents to express their concerns. I think it's just the start."
And parents also expressed concerns about a lack of communication with the school systems. But the principal at Bennett Middle, Christel Savage says, they are putting that at the forefront, in order to protect their students.
"I think we have the same vision about really making school the best that we can for students and making sure they are safe. I would hope that parents, if they do have concerns, to please reach out and I'll be happy to help," Savage tells us.
Savage also said she is working with one of the organizers from the meeting, who is now on their parent advisory board.
They hope this will allow constant communication between parents and administrators.
We're told this meeting is just the beginning, in order to protect their children.
