MSP: One dead after single-vehicle crash in Somerset Co.; investigation ongoing

A crash remains under investigation after troopers say a woman died as a result of a single-vehicle crash, in Somerset County. 

The Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack says on Sunday, just before 7:00 PM, troopers responded to the area of MD Route 388 West Post Office Road and Freetown Road for a report of a single vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Troopers say their preliminary investigation revealed that David Mitchell Jr. was driving a passenger car eastbound on MD Route 388, when it struck a pedestrian that was sitting in the middle of the road. 

According to the report, the pedestrian was declared dead on scene by EMS personnel and later identified as 53-year-old Keri Vaughan, of Princess Anne. 

Authorities say the road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was being investigated.

This incident remains under investigation.
