Blades getting closer to drinkable water

It has been eight days since the residents of Blades have been able to drink or cook from their tap water, after finding contaminants in the town's water wells.

For the last week and a half, the entire town of Blades has been supplied bottle water from the National Guard and they will be until their water issues are resolved.

But, that could happen soon. 47 ABC got a chance to see the brand new carbon filter in action.

Officials say if tests run smoothly, residents could get the green light for their own H2O sometime in the near future.

"As soon as we get the A-OK today or over the weekend, we're going to be pushing the carbon filtered water throughout town. We're just not going to say you can still cook and drink with it as of yet. We got to wait for our tests to come back," explains Blades Town Administrator Vikki Prettyman.

This means Blades residents will still have to get their water from the water buffalos at Blades Fire Hall for the next week or so.

Currently DNREC and the EPA are testing private water wells and nearby areas for contaminants.
